First you make your habits, and then your habits make you. Break those habits that can break you. Adopt those practices that will become the new habits that will help you achieve the success you desire. Your habits are a form of exercise. The harder you work at something, the harder it is to quit. The easier it is to do, the harder it is to change. Your habits are either the best of servants or the worst of masters.
You are what you repeatedly do.
Success is a habit . . . so is failure!! Which habit do you prefer? Sounds like a stupid question, doesn’t it? But, do your actions that develop your habits reflect success or failure? You may desire success and all it brings to your life, but are doing what it takes to get there?
How many want to be strong prayer warriors? Then get in the habit . . . pray without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
How many want to be effective intercessors for others? Then get in the habit . . . For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, Romans 1:9 . . . without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 2 Timothy 1:3.
How many want to be better at giving God thanks? Then get in the habit . . . For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 2:13.
How many want to do more work in God’s vineyard? Then get in the habit . . . remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, 1 Thessalonians 1:3.
How many want to be successful and prosperous? Then get in the habit . . . This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success, Joshua 1:8.
How many want to see God work through them in a greater way? Then get in the habit . . . He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen, Mark 16:16‑20.
Success in your life, your family, your business, your ministry does not just miraculously happen. You absolutely must work at it each and every day. God may endow you with great abilities and wisdom, but He does not “zap” you with great success. He can give you favor with everyone you meet, but it does no good if you do nothing with it. Get in the habit of wanting and doing and being!
Great things lie before each and every one of you. How many of you will reach for it and grab it and hold on tight?
Do your actions that develop your habits reflect success or failure?
Get in the habit . . . the right habit!!
